IAPRI's 26th Symposium was hosted by VTT in Helsinki and attracted more that 130 delegates from over 20 countries.

The three day event included over 100 presentations and 40 posters.

Delegates enjoyed an evening boat  trip to Suomenlinna fortress.

IAPRI, was established in 1971 as an international membership association to promote and advance packaging research and education. IAPRI enables researchers in organisations from all over the world to communicate and develop ideas, exchange experiences and in many cases reduce duplication of effort.

This helps create efficiency and effectiveness in their packaging research and education activities.

IAPRI has over 80 members in 30 countries creating an unique network for packaging researchers and those wanting to keep in touch with global packaging activity. The annual IAPRI event is a cornerstone to this network. A member organisation hosts either a Symposium (members only) or Conference which attracts delegates from all over the world to meet and develop contacts in a range of packaging disciplines.

Recent events have been hosted by the Federal Institute for Testing. Berlin, CalPolyState University, and in 2013 VTT, Finland have hosted the 26th IAPRI Symposium on Packaging in June.

In addition, members communicate through IAPRI working groups and the quarterly newsletter Packaging Research and Education.
